Five years after a teenager was killed in Hillsborough, a man has been arrested and charged with her murder.
Police have been investigating the death of 17-year-old Jenna Walker.
She was found dead at 9.45pm on 1 July 2010, with head injuries and stab wounds.
Detectives said police had questioned several people since her death but they had not been able to make an arrest.
She was the sole occupant of a house on Cape Run Road and three teenagers were detained by police.
They were held on suspicion of murder and taken to Truro police station. They were later released under investigation.
DCI Helen Catterick said: “We spoke to a number of people in the hours and days after Jenna’s death.
“They were not viewed as significant and the process of finding those we should speak to became more difficult as the time went on.
“It was not until the recent appointment of an inspector as a section commander that we were able to target people who may have had some involvement in Jenna’s death.
“Unfortunately, the steps we took did not lead to a prosecution being brought at the time.
“However, with the appointment of an inspector overseeing the investigation as a specialist, we were able to appoint a detective superintendent to take over the investigation, allowing us to put more confidence in bringing about a prosecution.”
