WTA chief executive officer Stéphane Bezin said the issue would ultimately be decided at the end of the year.

The WTA is expected to announce the next move at the end of the year.

“She’s really talented. She’s very young, but I think she has a big future in tennis and hopefully that can happen,” Bezin told reporters at the WTA Awards on Monday.

Bundchen, 32, is known for her aggressive tennis style and for leading the WTA in rankings.

Bundchen is the world’s top-ranked female tennis player after winning the Australian Open in January.

She is in her first season with the WTA as chairwoman.

Ahead of the WTA’s annual awards ceremony on Monday, the world’s most powerful women players also said they were leaving the sport, citing its changing nature after players became wealthier and more famous.
